DECATUR, Ind. — This was not the type of good, clean game you might expect to see in a Class 3A regional final. And yet, Jay County vs. Yorktown had those twists and turns and the dramatic moments that make baseball such a beautiful game.
And to be clear: Saying the first two innings weren't pretty might be underselling it.
Both teams put up three runs in both the first and second frames, which took exactly an hour to complete. But it wasn't the typical way of scoring. Walks, hit batsmen, wild pitches, passed balls — after two complete, the teams had more combined errors (5) than hits (4).
