MUNCIE — In the days leading up to its matchup with Central, the Jay County Patriots needed a way to simulate the Bearcats’ speed. Without the stable of athletes that Central has, Jay County head coach Chris Krieg instead used numbers, having his starters scrimmage against nine defenders in practice.
But when it came time to play the Bearcats on Saturday night at The Fieldhouse, it didn’t work. At all.
Central forced Jay County into 26 turnovers, using its quickness advantage to roll to a 68-52 victory.
“I’ve watched them two or three times (this season), and if you let them do what they want to do, they’re a pretty good ball-control team,” Central coach Jeff Holloway said.
