Ball State's Riley Neal among several key players likely to sit at Toledo

MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State will play at Toledo on Wednesday without some of its best players, most notably Riley Neal.

The redshirt junior quarterback had an MRI and was diagnosed with a torn meniscus and PCL. It will not require surgery. Drew Plitt, who came in on relief of Neal in the second quarter at Ohio, will start. True freshman John Paddock will serve as the backup.

Neal got hit on the 32-yard pass to Justin Hall. He later delivered an 18-yard touchdown pass to Riley Miller that same drive, six plays after the hit. Neal tried to continue playing through the pain and lasted three more drives before being subbed out for Plitt on the final drive of the first half.
