MUNCIE — There were two locker rooms.
Attached, but divided enough that the players in one and coaches in the other didn't cross paths for some time after Ball State's emotional double-overtime on Tuesday. They had trailed by 17 points at Tennessee State and for most of the first half, head coach James Whitford said, things couldn't have gone worse.
So after the game — after the comeback and the big plays and the excitement — Whitford took a few minutes to meet with athletic director Mark Sandy. They talked about the win and what it meant to the program, and all the while the Cardinals hadn't interacted with the coaches.
