MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State's women's basketball team accepted a bid in the Women's National Invitational Tournament. It will play at Marquette (21-10) in the first round Wednesday, March 16 at 8 p.m., it was announced Tuesday.
Ball State (20-12) finished fifth in the Mid-American Conference this season and advanced to the MAC Championship game, where it lost to Buffalo 79-75.
A win would've given Ball State its second NCAA Tournament berth and first since 2009. Instead, the Cardinals will join four other Mid-American Conference schools — Toledo (26-5), Akron (17-11), Kent State (18-11) and Ohio (15-14) — in the 64-team WNIT.
