Ball State-Western Michigan: 3 things to watch

MUNCIE, Ind. — For the first time since 2003, Ball State will host a ranked opponent Tuesday night.

No. 18 Western Michigan, which leads the Mid-American Conference at 8-0, is favored by 18.5 in the 8 p.m. midweek game. The Broncos' offense is producing 249.4 passing yards per game, along with a MAC-best 252.8 yards rushing.

This Western team has knocked off two Big Ten opponents and is steamrolling competition in league play. Two top-30 recruiting classes in consecutive years are paying dividends for coach P.J. Fleck.

Ball State (4-4, 1-3 MAC) on the other hand, under first-year head coach Mike Neu, is coming off a homecoming loss to Akron.
