MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State will be hosting a Celebration of Life for volleyball legend Dr. Don Shondell prior to Saturday's men's volleyball match against Ohio State.
Shondell died Nov. 23, 2021, at 92 years old.
Shondell is known for bringing volleyball to Ball State, Indiana and throughout the Midwest. He is a Hall of Fame member of the Ball State Athletics, International Volleyball, American Volleyball Coaches and more.
He founded the Ball State men's volleyball program and led the team for 34 seasons, going 769-280-6 (.732) during that time. He coached the Cardinals to 19 MIVA regular season titles and 12 MIVA tournament championships.
