MUNCIE, Ind. — For the first time in 20 years, Ball State is headed to the NCAA men’s volleyball tournament.
The Cardinals swept Purdue Fort Wayne 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-16) in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association championship match in front of a raucous Worthen Arena crowd. Ball State (23-3) clinched the MIVA regular season title with a win over the Mastodons (17-13) two weeks earlier.
With the victory, Ball State earned one of five automatic bids into the seven-team NCAA Tournament, which will be played at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion from May 1-7.
