OXFORD, Ohio — The Cardinals let one slip away.
In a winnable game, No. 4 seed Ball State softball on Thursday lost 8-4 to hosting No. 1 seed Miami (Ohio) in the first round of the Mid-American Conference tournament, pushing its season to the brink of conclusion.
BSU took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third inning, only to allow a two-out, two-strike three-run homer to the RedHawks in the bottom of the frame than ignited eight uncontested runs scored by the opposition.
"We had a totally different game plan in terms of executing at the plate, and I was really proud of that because they came in, executed the game plan, put some runs up and continued to put pressure on them.
