MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State community was dealt a devastating blow Friday morning when longtime alumni director and athletics contributor Ed Shipley passed away unexpectedly.
Shipley, a 1968 graduate, had worked for the university since 1977, including 31 years as the Alumni Association’s executive director, president and CEO. In an email that went out to alumni and the campus on Friday, President Geoffrey Mearns called Shipley “one of Ball State University’s greatest ambassadors.”
“He was certainly one of the most beloved men of this university and community,” said Joe Hernandez, Ball State’s Associate Athletics Director for Sports and Alumni Relations.
