The 12th-ranked Ball State men’s volleyball team (10-3, 4-0 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) defeated the reigning NCAA champions, No. 8 Loyola University (8-4, 3-2 MIVA), in four sets.
“This is amazing, this is why we come here every morning, especially for me being a senior,” senior setter Hiago Garchet said.
The Cardinals won the first set by a score of 26-24. Both teams began the match with a slow serving percentage, the Cardinals at .840 and the Ramblers at .880.
In the first, Ball State spread the wealth in the kill category — five players added two kills for a total of 12 in the set.
