MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State led just three times in a high-scoring Mid-American Conference affair at Kent State. The Cardinals' largest lead was 35 seconds in when they went up by three points.
It remained competitive through the entire night as both teams shot ridiculously well, but the Golden Flashes won 100-90 behind an uncanny 31 for 31 effort at the free-throw line.
"I thought it was a well played game by both teams," head coach James Whitford said. "I'm disappointed we lost, but I'm not losing my mind."
The Cardinals fall to 9-5 on the year and 0-1 in league play, but Whitford said he saw a lot of good things in the loss.
