MUNCIE, Ind. — Donny Marcus just wanted a head start.
The lone early enrollee from Ball State football’s 2020 recruiting class knew wherever he went to college there would be competition. The running back out of Brownsburg High School in Indiana understood BSU would be no different, from the time he arrived on campus until the Cardinals’ season opener Sept. 3 against Maine.
So Marcus arrived in Muncie in January with that in mind. Still 17 years old at the time, only turning 18 on Jan. 24, he attacked those early morning conditioning drills in winter workouts with the hope of showing his coaches he wasn’t scared.
