MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State football is down to nine scheduled games for its 2020 season after Friday's cancellation of its season opener against Maine.
Maine, a FCS program in the Colonial Athletic Association, was supposed to travel to Muncie for a Sept. 3 matchup at Scheumann Stadium. It was going to be the start of what remains a highly-anticipated season for BSU. But Friday, as the CAA announced it was suspending fall competitions due to concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Maine released the news it was postponing its participation in fall sports.
"Ball State will continue to explore all opportunities as it relates to football competition this fall," a BSU release read, in part.
