First Quarter
Toledo won the toss, and chose to defer to the second half. Ball State started its first drive at the 25 after the kickoff.
Sophomore quarterback Riley Neal pushed the Cardinals down the field with three completions and a run, but a holding penalty at the Toledo 37 pushed them back. Neal was hit on third down and Ball State was forced to punt, which was downed at the 7-yard line.
The Rockets faced a third down inside their own 20, but senior running back Kareem Hunt busted up the middle for 19 yards and a first down.
