MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State needed this one in the worst way, and Riley Neal, Riley Miller and the Cardinals delivered a reassuring performance Saturday.
The Yorktown High School duo each had career days as the Cardinals snapped a three-game losing streak – and perhaps more notably, a 13-game Mid-American Conference losing streak – in beating Kent State 52-24 at Scheumann Stadium.
For all of the frustrating moments in the last two weeks, Ball State (2-3, 1-0 MAC) preached how the Mid-American Conference opener was a chance at a reset. And indeed, it looked like a newly inspired bunch after coming out with three first-quarter touchdowns and a 21-point lead.
