MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State University officially broke ground Friday evening on the Dr. Don Shondell Practice Center in front of a crowd of more than 200 people outside Worthen Arena.
The facility, named for hall of fame men's volleyball coach Don Shondell, is anticipated to open by summer 2018. It will serve the Cardinals' men's and women's basketball and men's and women's volleyball programs -- all of which were in attendance -- with practice and meeting spaces.
Shondell spoke at the ceremony along with men's basketball coach James Whitford and women's volleyball coach Kelli Miller.
