Whitford could sense when he watched K.J. Walton suffer an ankle injury this past November against Northern Kentucky it was serious. Ball State’s head basketball coach knew his redshirt senior guard and starter had “turned it good.” What Whitford didn’t anticipate, though, was Walton would veer back and forth between being available and unavailable in recent weeks.
