MUNCIE, Ind. — Think back one year ago at this time. Josh Thompson was parked on the Ball State bench, only entering games when the outcome was decided. He was better known as "Chandler Thompson's son," a walk-on with name recognition and not much more. He was still more than a month away from making his first collegiate field goal.
Well, Ball State's 116-57 rout of Delaware State on Saturday underscored what anyone who has followed the Cardinals this season already knows: Josh Thompson is a very good player in his own right and is no longer just the son of a Ball State legend.
