Ball State basketball gets commitment from sharp-shooting graduate transfer

MUNCIE, Ind. — The Ball State men’s basketball program was desperate for a shooter to come in and play right away, and the Cardinals appear to have gotten one.

Austin Nehls, a graduate transfer from Central Connecticut State, told the Star Press on Tuesday night that he has committed to play next season for Ball State and head coach James Whitfod. Nehls has one season of eligibility remaining and will be able to use it right away.

Nehls, who chose Ball State over Bowling Green and Northern Arizona, averaged 11.5 points per game in three seasons at Central Connecticut State.
