MUNCIE, Ind. — After a relatively slow start, the Ball State men’s basketball team cruised to an 86-69 season-opening win over Indiana State on Tuesday night at Worthen Arena.
Tahjai Teague paced Ball State (1-0) with a game-high 21 points, while Tayler Persons added 16, K.J. Walton 15 and Brachen Hazen 15.
Tied at 32 at halftime, the Cardinals led by as many as 18 in the second half and will go into Saturday’s game at No. 24 Purdue (1-0) on a high note.
Jordan Barnes and Tyreke Key scored 16 points apiece for Indiana State, which was picked sixth out of 10 teams in the Missouri Valley preseason poll.
