YPSILANTI, Mich. — After rallying to beat Eastern Michigan in five sets Saturday, Kelli Miller Phillips heard someone shout toward the court to tell her Bowling Green had lost.
Coming into Saturday, Ball State and Bowling Green were the only two Mid-American Conference teams with one league loss. The Cardinals already held the head-to-head advantage over the Falcons and, with their loss, had a one-match conference lead heading into the final conference match of the season.
As she hustled back to join her players, who already made their way into the locker room, Miller Phillips said everyone checked their phones to confirm the news.
