GASTON, Ind. — What a difference a few days makes.
Following the Class A Showdown at Blue River Valley on Sept. 26, there was optimism surrounding the Wes-Del girls volleyball team. After all, Wes-Del ended the day by taking a full-strength Cowan team three sets in a tournament format. That was a little over a week after the Warriors took the defending Class A state champion Blackhawks — who at the time was missing two seniors — five full sets.
For most of the season, that appeared to be the story for Wes-Del. The Warriors would start strong, come close but not quite be able to win matches where it probably could've.
