MUNCIE, Ind. — Benjamin Wissel is sitting down Wednesday, moments away from being approved as New Castle’s next athletic director, and he’s getting emotional.
Wissel, who’s spent the last two years as the athletic director at another area high school, Daleville, is listening to someone introduce him by reading a recommendation letter written by a former athlete of his. That athlete, Jacob Kasper, wrestled for Wissel in college when Wissel was an assistant coach at Duke. And Kasper is talking about Wissel in a way Wissel didn’t know Kasper would.
Kasper is praising Wissel for the extra time Wissel spent with him his freshman year, watching film, lifting, mentoring him on “how to live a championship lifestyle” and more.
