MUNCIE, Ind. — He had been making the same walk for years, past the pool and up the stairs to the wrestling room. Mark Scott enjoyed this walk at Central, and he enjoyed getting on the mat and demonstrating moves even more.
But this past season, that walk became unbearable thanks to his ailing knees. He became frustrated that getting to and from practice was a chore, because he loved coaching more than anything.
So when Scott recently resigned as head coach after 28 seasons, seven sectional titles and two regional titles, he realized just how crazy this change would be because wrestling is basically all he’s known.
