MUNCIE, Ind. — This transition wasn't always easy.
As a redshirt sophomore playing nickel cornerback in 2014, Aaron Taylor racked up 60.5 tackles, 4.5 of them for loss. Last season he slid over to outside linebacker and his tackle fell to 31, with two for loss. His shift from ball hawking safety out of high school to a bulldog linebacker playing between the tackles has taken years, and it's had highs and lows.
Taylor has his sights set on more of the former in 2016.
"When you move down and you have success, then yeah it's fun, but when you had a year like last year, when you go 3-9, you kind of start to have your doubts," he said.
