MUNCIE, Ind. — Mike Neu is sitting in his office, overlooking Scheumann Stadium, and he’s talking about the tangible ways Ball State football wants be able to tell how the fourth year of the Neu era will in fact be different.

It’s July 31, one day before players report for fall camp.

The Cardinals haven’t worked their way through those 14 preseason practices yet. They haven’t scrimmaged twice. They haven’t traveled to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for their season opener against Indiana and, despite the loss, proven they wouldn’t be flattened by the Big Ten Hoosiers.
