MUNCIE, Ind. — In Ball State's first real action without Riley Neal and James Gilbert, the offense looked terrific.
The Cardinals played their annual spring game on Saturday at Scheumann Stadium, and the offense, led by quarterbacks Drew Plitt and John Paddock, were terrific. In the first six possessions, the offense scored five touchdowns and had another drive stopped at the 1.
Granted, Ball State had five defensive backs sitting out, including starting safety Bryce Cosby and starting corner Antonio Phillips.
But hey, the offense did what it had to do, and if Saturday is any indication, it will be a strong group even without Neal (now at Vanderbilt) and Gilbert (now at Kansas State).
