MUNCIE, Ind. — Bryan Bullington’s career as a pitcher for Ball State University resulted in his selection as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft, by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and remains one of the most prolific in BSU history.
He earned two Mid-American Conference pitcher of the year awards (2001, 2002), a MAC freshman of the year award (2000), three All-MAC first team spots (2000-02) and unanimous recognition as a first-team All-American (2002), among other honors. He’s Ball State’s all-time leader in career wins and strikeouts. He would go on to play in the MLB for the Pirates, Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals, as well as overseas in Japan for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp and ORIX Buffaloes.
