MUNCIE, Ind. — Unless there’s a drastic turn of events, Ball State men’s basketball coach James Whitford expects that there will be a season this year.
It would be Whitford’s eighth in charge of the Cardinals, whom he’s led since he took over ahead of the 2013-14 campaign and gone 107-118 with the 2019-20 season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It would be an opportunity for him to record his fifth winning season in six years, not to mention a chance for BSU to reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2000. And he believes the program will be able to compete.
