MUNCIE, Ind. — Although Chandler Thompson’s basketball legacy in Muncie is still being written, it is nevertheless well-known.
There’s the high school state championship he won with Muncie Central in 1988, a 76-53 win against Concord in which Thompson scored 21 points. There’s the Sweet 16 run he helped guide Ball State on during the 1990 NCAA tournament, BSU upsetting Oregon State and Louisville before a close loss against eventual national champion UNLV. There’s his current status as Central’s head coach, a position he’s held since he took it ahead of the 2017-18 season.
