MUNCIE, Ind. — In an already terrific season for Delta wrestling, the team made program history last weekend at the New Haven semistate tournament.
Four Eagles punched their ticket to state. It was both significant increase from having zero make it in 2021, and was the most wrestlers Delta has advanced to state since 1997.
"(It was) some of the best I've seem those guys wrestle all season. Their excitement showed that they really wanted it," head coach Cody LeCount said. "25 years, four qualifiers. That's the coolest thing for me this year."
Perhaps more impressively, only one of them is an upperclassman, and they've all formed a bond throughout their memorable unique paths to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday:
Dillon Tuttle, 138 pounds
Tuttle (33-6) felt the weight of the moment.
