Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi will compete in another season of IndyCar for Andretti Autosport, it was confirmed on Monday.
Rossi, who won the Indy 500 as a rookie this season, is the most recent American driver to compete in Formula One, driving in five races at the end of last year for Manor. Rossi had been linked with a full-time drive at the team this season and nearly replaced Rio Haryanto over the summer break when the Indonesian's sponsors could not longer pay for his seat, but opted instead to finish the 2016 IndyCar campaign.
Rossi finished 11th, enough to claim Rookie of the Year honours, and will stay at Andretti Autosport for 2017.
