INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi is returning to IndyCar next season to drive for Andretti-Herta Autosport.
The 2016 rookie of the year will be one of three guaranteed Andretti cars next season. The team has confirmed that Ryan Hunter-Reay and Marco Andretti will drive with Rossi. Plans for a fourth car are still in the works.
Rossi used fuel mileage to pull off a stunning upset to win the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500. The California native was new to IndyCar this season, and new to oval races.
His season ended 16 IndyCar starts, six top-10s and 23 laps led.
