Ford star Scott McLaughlin has topped the time sheets in Friday's second Supercars practice session at the Adelaide 500.
The DJR Team Penske ace posted a last-gasp one minute and 20.3567 second-fastest lap in the 40-minute session.
He finished ahead of Holden's Shane Van Gisbergen (1:20.3896) and Nick Percat (1:20.4600).
"I was surprised to be where we were but I'm sure there's a lot more to come from people down the road," McLaughlin told Fox Sports.
Defending champion Jamie Whincup, who went fastest in the opening practice session of the day, made a mistake going into the final turn of his flying lap and could post only the 16th fastest lap of the second session.
