The DJR Team Penske driver used the pace of his Ford Mustang to win a third pole position at Albert Park, beating the field by half a second in qualifying on Friday afternoon.
Fellow Mustang driver Cam Waters will start alongside the Kiwi, who recorded his 50th qualifying win in the Melbourne sunshine.
