INDIANAPOLIS -- IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe was released from the hospital Wednesday, nine days after his wreck during Indianapolis 500 practice left him with a life-threatening leg injury.

Series officials say the 28-year-old Canadian is expected to make a full recovery. He has not yet been cleared to resume racing.

Hinchcliffe had surgery May 18 after a frightening crash in the third turn on Indy's 2.
