Haas hopes it does not rue Melbourne's 'missed opportunity' after double DNF

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner hopes his team will not live to rue "lost opportunities" this season, having suffered a double retirement at the Australian Grand Prix.

Romian Grosjean lost out to the Williams of Felipe Massa at the start but continued to run strongly in seventh place, until a water leak forced the Frenchman into retirement on lap 15. In the other VF-16, Kevin Magnussen collided with Sauber's Marcus Ericsson on the opening lap while trying to make ground from his lowly grid position, before retiring with a puncture seven laps from the end.

After failing to replicate the team's stunning start to its debut season in 2016 -- when Grosjean claimed sixth place in Melbourne -- Steiner admits Haas cannot afford to miss opportunities to score points with such a tight midfield battle in prospect.
