The mayor of Sao Paulo is expecting former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone to bid for Brazilian Grand Prix.
Brazil's popular race at Interlagos is being sold to guarantee its future on the F1 calendar following a long period of uncertainty. With Brazilian currently gripped by its worst recession in over a century the race has been part of a proposed £2.7 billion privatisations package Sao Paulo hopes will help bolster the city's finances.
Ecclestone, who lives in Brazil with his wife Fabiana, has emerged as a candidate. The 86-year-old was moved out of a position of power and named chairman emeritus by F1's new owners, Liberty Media, at the start of the year.
