Daly to race Indy 500 for Schmidt Peterson

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Conor Daly won't have to endure watching the Indianapolis 500 from a few thousand miles away this year.

He'll be a participant instead. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced Saturday at Barber Motorsports Park that Daly will drive its third entry, the No. 43 Honda, in the May 24 race.

The 23-year-old Daly also competed in the 2013 Indy 500 for AJ Foyt Racing and said he's "over the moon" to have another chance in IndyCar's premier race.
