Saturday morning, Art Briles will appear on college football’s most influential opinion-setting media vehicle, “ESPN College GameDay,” and say in a taped interview with Tom Rinaldi how sorry he is for what happened, how mistakes were made and how he’s learned hard lessons from the ugliness he oversaw while at Baylor.
He will attempt to convince college football that he deserves a second chance. You may even believe him. Many do.
Don’t allow a phony apology from Briles to carry more weight than years’ worth of hiding what appears to be almost systematic sexual assaults committed by his players, which also included intimidation of alleged victims.
