Where have Auburn’s linebackers gone? There was a time when Auburn football was synonymous with hard-hitting linebackers like Gregg Carr, Aundray Bruce, Takeo Spikes and Karlos Dansby. Not anymore.
I again was reminded of this when Cassanova McKinzy, a three-year starter at Auburn who went undrafted, was cut midway through training camp by the Buccaneers. A three-year starter on Auburn’s defense should at least make an NFL team. McKinzy never materialized into much of a player with the Tigers, yet no one could take his spot. That’s a problem.
Linebacker play at Auburn has been in a free-fall for years.
