COLUMBIA, S.C. - No. 44 Auburn women’s tennis battled through the rain and a long delay as the Tigers rallied to knock off No. 67 Tennessee, 4-3, to open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday at the Carolina Tennis Center.
The Tigers (16-12) began their match outdoors, battling through a two-hour rain delay to take the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Vols (11-15) with wins on courts two and three.
Reka Muller and Jen Pfeifler cruised to an 8-2 win on court three over Victoria Olivarez and Tiffany Tavares. Paula de Man and Michala Kucharova clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win against Tennessee’s Eve Repic and Laurence Guevremont on court two.
