Kim Evans was presented the 2015 Walter Gilbert Award prior to Auburn’s football game against Georgia on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Evans is the first female to ever receive the award.
“I am so honored I am not even sure I can express it,” Evans said of being honored as the Walter Gilbert Award winner. “The award winners before me are amazing as is everyone out there who is so deserving of it. I was blown away and I couldn’t be more proud or more blessed to win the award.”
“It’s always gratifying to see how honors such as the Walter Gilbert Award mean to those who receive them, but it’s truly special to see what it means to Kim Evans,” Athletics Director Jay Jacobs said.
