PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Ty McCormack won the Men’s Championship 10,000m on Thursday at the 121st annual Penn Relays at the historic Franklin Field.
McCormack clocked a 29:21.39, the program’s eighth-fastest time, to defeat Providence’s Hugh Armstrong by over 33 seconds. McCormack’s time ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the SEC this season.
“It was definitely a good day, and we had to show some mental toughness because of the weather,” head coach Ralph Spry said. “The weather has been tough, and of course it’s tough on everybody, but you figure out who you are when you have to compete in these type of conditions.
