Auburn, Ala. - Senior pole vaulter Jessie Johnson and senior jumper Shawn Johnson posted impressive performances at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. to highlight Auburn’s efforts Saturday.
Johnson cleared 4.32m/14-2 to break her own school record set earlier this season at the Conference Clash in late January. She was the top collegiate finisher and second overall. The height of 14-2 is sixth nationally.
Shawn Johnson’s jump of 16.42m/53-10.50 was good for gold, winning by seven inches. Johnson improved steadily over his progression of six jumps, making his largest gain on his last jump by 17 inches to claim first place.
