Tommy Tuberville appears to be one step closer to a potential run for governor of Alabama.
Tuberville filed paperwork Thursday with the Alabama Secretary of State to loan himself $100,000 for his gubernatorial campaign, according to AL.com.
Tuberville, 62, first announced in late February that he was interested in running, though he has not yet formally announced a final decision on what he will do.
“I’m not doing it just to have a job, and I’m not doing it for ego – if I do it – I truly want to help the people because I have seen a lot of things in this state that can be improved,” Tuberville said.
