Ah, the opening weekend. Cupcakes for some, challenges for others. We find that our expectations are either validated or negated by the reality of actually playing the game. The hypnotic hype and fervent excitement of the preseason gives way to hypercritical hysteria and feverish expletives when things don’t go as well as we hoped or expected. To make things worse, key players were injured and our biggest rivals all seemed to have excelled in their own first games.
