Vanderpool-Wallace, who won three NCAA individual titles at Auburn from 2008-11, clocked a time of 24.38 in the final to top Brazil’s Etiene Medeiros (24.55) and the United States’ Natalie Coughlin (24.66).
The Nassau, Bahamas native posted the fourth-fastest time in the world this year to set a Pan Am record with a 24.31 during Friday’s prelims. Vanderpool-Wallace also earned the bronze medal in the women’s 100 freestyle Monday at the Pan Am Games. She owns the Auburn long-course meters record in both the 50m and 100m freestyle.
Former Tiger George Bovell picked up a spot on the podium in the men’s 50m freestyle.
