Former Auburn All-America swimmer Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace advanced to the finals of the women’s 50m freestyle as she swam in a pair of events on Saturday at the FINA World Championships at Kazan, Russia.
Vanderpool-Wallace, who owns Auburn’s long-course record in the 50m free at 24.31, swam a 24.43 in the prelims and a 24.38 in the semifinals to advance to the finals. Her prelims time was the second-fastest of the session while her semifinals time placed her fifth heading into Sunday.
The 50m freestyle was the second of two events for Vanderpool-Wallace on Saturday as she also swam in the finals of the 50m butterfly, clocking a 25.
